Our Elderly Initiative

Reaching the elderly is an initiative that reaches out to the elderly people in our community. This initiative was brought about as the need arose in the community where the elderly are usually left alone, and sometimes abandoned. As we grow older, seniors who live alone may not always experience a simple act of touch on a daily basis. Families may live far away, or an elderly may have physical limitations which can affect daily activity. This initiative has its members and volunteers going to 5 care homes (currently) within the community.

We visit two homes in Chadwell St Mary, one home in South Ockendon, one home in Tilbury and one in Stanford le Hope. We visit once a month, and each visit is an hour long.

The main aim of this initiative is to reach out to the elderly and socialise with them, speaking with them and telling them about the Lord.
We pray with them, share meals, and celebrate with those who may have birthdays or anniversaries. We aim to create a fun, friendly, caring and very relaxed atmosphere for the residents and staff of the elderly care homes. We provide companionship and encouragement to the elderly and seniors in our community.
Meeting time is arranged by the different homes, and usually an hour long.
Venue is at the respective care homes.
